mencari cahaya lagi

lightening_500x3321

Hempasan ini siapa yang perlu kucintai

Rasa khawatir, kepedulian, mengubur diri sejenak

Ibarat pintu berlapis jeruji

Ah, tuan rumah kemana engkau ini

Pikiran menuju kebeningan, ada saja kemunafikan

Kelelapan hati yang tertidur

Sekardus khilaf,

Setan bermajelis maksiat

Sejuta hari ini, berbahasa resah, berkata-kata rendah, ketiadaan

Terpojok

Jihad Arsitektur, maisyah, siyasi, walimah

Kabar-kabar dahsyat, manipulasi, amanah, dan cinta

Bereslah Indonesia

Just Like it

nice

The main roof of the house, with it’s exposed timber rafters and wood decking, creates a sense of shelter, as you might find in a primitive outdoor landscape structure.

good

The architectural composition reinforces the spatial connection to the landscape, there is also a crispness to the architecture that acts as a counterpoint to the natural topography. This juxtaposition accentuates the organic form of the landscape.

Dutchess County Guest House

1

Allied Works Architecture explores hierarchies of viewing with a guest house in Dutchess County, New York. Not surprisingly, enlisting dramatic means to frame the landscape has obsessed any number of architects over the centuries. Windows, colonnades, arcades, loggias, and pergolas all represent architectural interventions that heighten the perception of the landscape for its observers.

2

While early Modernists, such as Le Corbusier, Rudolph Schindler, and Richard Neutra, demonstrated how linear structural elements could achieve this framing effect with a minimum of materials, Brad Cloepfil, of Allied Works Architecture, takes this impulse to an even more abstract level. For a 1,300-square-foot guest house in Dutchess County, New York, he designed a linear, 8-by-8-inch square-tube steel frame to contain the single-story volumes of a two-bedroom cottage, and continued it outdoors to demarcate the forest setting. Cloepfil enclosed the walls of the structure with santos mahogany and clear low-E glass so that the building fits chameleonlike into its thicket of oak, hickory, and birch trees. Mahogany continues on the roof plane as well, since it will be visible from the main house (also designed by Cloepfil) being built on a hill to the west.

The clients, a married couple who collect art, wanted the guest house to be somewhat near their weekend home, yet still afford all parties a sense of privacy. Perched on a small rise, the rectilinear structure’s living and sleeping areas face east, where they overlook a meandering creek.

The Architecture Handbook

book

The Architecture Handbook: A Student Guide to Understanding Buildings focuses on the design and construction of residential architecture. The 400-page full color student edition and a 600-page teacher edition are the first books of their kind in the country.

Through hands-on activities, The Architecture Handbook teaches both the fundamentals of architectural design and technical drawing. Students also build knowledge and gain skills through group design projects, sketching, model-making, mapping, research, critical thinking, problem solving, and class presentations.

DASH – Architecure Senior High

DASH was founded in 1990 by former principal Jacqueline Hinchey-Sipes, who coined the famous school motto “Education by Design”. Over the past 15 years DASH has earned a reputation as one of Florida’s strongest public high schools, with the school often making Miami-Dade county’s highest marks on the FCAT (Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test) exam and consistently receiving an assessment grade of A by the state. DASH has been featured in Dwell magazine, Teen People Magazine (Cool School of the Month, May 2000), and the Miami Herald. Newsweek Magazine ranked DASH as the 33rd best public high school in the US in 2005 and the 60th best in 2006. Over 95% of DASH graduates continue on to college, with most students receiving scholarships from many of the nation’s top art and design programs. The school was twice named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, in 1994 and 1995[1]. Recently, DASH graduates have also been admitted to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cooper Union, Harvard University, Duke University, and Johns Hopkins University.

The school features programs in Architecture/Interior Design, Entertainment Technology, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, and Visual Communications/Web Design. The curriculum includes a strong, four-year foundation in the fine arts, internships with local design firms, and dual-enrollment college-level design courses, such as performance art, taught by professors from local colleges as well as field professionals. Students take 8 courses a year (4 core classes, 2-3 art classes, and 1-2 electives) as opposed to the regular 6-course curriculum in most other Florida high schools.
